| The History of Sir Reel Films Sir Reel Films was started in 1996 by Stephen J. Semones, but then it went by a different name, Catch 22 Productions. Catch 22 was started for the sole purpose of creating entertaining and original films. Though only one film was ever completed by Catch 22, several were attempted and this led to Stephen basically sitting on all this footage and doing nothing with it. In 2002, and after several years of absence from film making, Stephen decided to resurrect his film company and push forward into the digital revolution that was breaking out. In early 2003, Sir Reel Film was born with the film Let Bygones Be... Bygones was the first of three films shot within eight months and ensured that Sir Reel Films was going to be the company that Stephen originally intended to form. In August of 2003, the hard work paid off. Sir Reel Films and Trinity Comics joined forces to create The Wraith: Eyes of Judgment, a comic book film based on The Wraith character published by Trinity Comics. The film was released almost two years later to the day the film's conception began at The Abingdon Cinemall to an overwhelming success. In November of 2005, The Wraith film played to citizens of New York City at an Independent Film Festival. Both The Wraith comic and film have received worldwide acclaim and press to this day and the character's popularity grows day by day with new comics, novels, action figures, and other merchandise. Right now Sir Reel Films is currently preparing for the future. Every member of Sir Reel wholeheartedly believes that digital and independent film making will be the future of entertainment and every member hopes to have a part in changing the way films are made and viewed. |
